Bright Little Stars Nursery opens in Stratford

Bright Little Stars Nursery (BLS) opened the doors of its base in New Garden Quarter on Tuesday, May 4. Chief executive Amol Devani said:  Despite the challenging year, I am extremely proud of the BLS team who have persevered to bring our high-quality care and education offering to Stratford. We are overjoyed to open within this exciting and vibrant area. The nursery is set around a landscaped two-acre communal garden square next to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Hafs Academy, Stratford, fails Ofsted inspection

Hafs Academy has been rated Inadequate in two full Ofsted inspections - Credit: Google A £3,100-a-year Muslim faith school in Stratford has failed to meet Ofsted’s standards for independent schools, having previously been rated inadequate.  Following the December 8 report, “grave concerns” have been raised about Hafs Academy’s continued poor performance.  Some 91 pupils, aged between 7 and 16, attend the all-boys school, based in an industrial unit in Maryland Road.  The most recent inspection found various safety concerns, including a fire exit being “restricted” and fire extinguishers having “not been checked frequently enough”.  The report reads: “This inspection finds that leaders are still not vigilant enough about identifying health and safety risks.

Boris Johnson on his bike in archived photographs - Credit: PA Boris Johnson has been told to avoid future trips to exercise at the Olympic Park, after his controversial cycling excursion last weekend.  Pressure has been mounting on Downing Street to own up to the facts surrounding the visit to Stratford last Sunday afternoon.  Government guidelines state people must “stay local” when exercising during lockdown, prompting Newham politicians to criticise the Prime Minister for his seven-mile journey.  Labour Councillor Joshua Garfield, who represents the Stratford and New Town ward including the Olympic Park, branded the trip “unnecessary”.  He said: “One in thirty Newham residents is currently infected with coronavirus and advice from the government is to stay home and stay local when exercising or shopping for essentials.
