How a broken-down motorhome led to Ogallala's Petrified Wood Gallery being featured in the Omaha Film Festival

Omaha World-Herald journalist Joe Dejka shares some favorite photos of journeys across the Good Life State. You never know what you’ll find when your car breaks down in a small town in western Nebraska. Hank Bagwell made a film about what he found. Bagwell, a Florida moviemaker, will premiere his “A Legacy in Stone” documentary on Ogallala’s Petrified Wood Gallery March 12 during the 16th annual Omaha Film Festival. Those viewing the 7-minute film that night at Aksarben Cinema or online March 14-21 will see exactly what Bagwell saw when he visited the museum and met founders Howard and Harvey Kenfield one day in August 2018.

After weeks of water woes, Angoon receives Coast Guard assist Posted by Erin McKinstry, KCAW | Feb 17, 2021 Crew members from the Coast Guard Cutter Hickory delivered four pallets of water to Angoon on Sunday evening after 1/3 of the village lost water. (Photo provided by U.S. Coast Guard) Winter cold snaps aren’t just causing frozen pipes and power outages in the lower 48. In Angoon, recent cold temperatures exacerbated ongoing issues with the town’s water supply. The Coast Guard stepped in to help by delivering bottled water to the community of around 450 people. The troubles with Angoon’s water supply started on the morning of Feb. 3.

Axiom Verge: How ancient Sumer inspired an alien world

Axiom Verge: How ancient Sumer inspired an alien world Axiom Verge 2. I’m a sucker for Metroidvania-style games, and Axiom Verge is easily one of the best around. The combat, story, music, and level design all compelled me to explore every inch of the ruined Sudran world. But it was something else that really cemented it as one of my all-time favorite games. See, I’m a history nerd. I especially love learning about the rise of urban civilization. My love of Metroidvanias is rivaled only by my fascination with the history and mythology of Sumer and the wider Mesopotamian world. As it turns out, developer Tom Happ shares that interest.
