James Newman could get top-five Eurovision spot, Cheryl Baker predicts


Baker told Times Radio: “It is a great song and he has got great credibility across Europe. They know him. They know the songs he has written.
“We may do much better than we have done in the past 20-odd years.
“However, some people do not believe there is a political vote. I do. I think that the general public may not like the fact that we have come out of Europe.
“I am hoping. I have got my fingers crossed for James that he is in the top five. There is some stiff competition.”

The UK’s Eurovision hopeful James Newman has said he is “absolutely buzzing” to perform in the live final of the competition this weekend.

Eurovision is back again for 2021 after a year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, exhibiting some of Europe s most eccentric pop talent.
This year, the UK s hopes ride on the shoulders of 2014 Brit Award-winner James Newman, with earnest single Embers .
The first semi-final took place on May 18, and the preview of Newman’s performance at the second Semi-Final on May 20 looked promising.  You can see how the London singer-songwriter fares by tuning in to the Grand Final on Saturday, May 22, which will be broadcast live on BBC One from Rotterdam from 8pm. ....
