But to do so in the face of the Besnard Lakes’ sixth studio effort ‘The Besnard Lakes are the Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings’ would be a colossal mistake. Comprising four sides of vinyl named ‘Near Death’, ‘Death’, ‘After Death’ and ‘Life’, the record is a near faultless 72 minute exercise in shoegaze-inspired indie-rock from the Canadian group led by husband and wife team Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas. ....

The band is currently gearing up for the release of it’s extravagantly titled sixth LP, The Besnard Lakes Are The Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings. The concept behind the album is equally impressive as well. The record acts as a journey to and from the brink of death, chronicled through a seventy-two minute double LP epic. The first side is entitled “Near Death” while “Death,” “After Death,” and “Life” follow after. The band has already shared two singles from the album, “Our Heads, Our Hearts On Fire Again” and “Raindrops,” both of which made our Songs of the Week. ....
