Justice Maureen Onyetenu of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has remanded in police custody a businessman, Chidi Nwanyanwu, charged with adulteration of engine oil and inscribing forged Standard Organisations of Nigeria (SON) logos on the products.
The judge made the order following Nwanyanwu’s arraignment alongside his two firms. The SON accused the defendants of dealing in adulterated engine oil, non-compliance with SON’s Conformity Assessment Programme and forging of SON’s logo, the mark of quality and certification number.
The SON’s counsel, Joseph Olofindare, said the defendants committed the offence on or about February 1, 2021, at the Trade Fair Administrative Block Complex, Badagry Expressway, Lagos. ....

A surety, Gajah Lovely, has been arraigned before Justice G. O. Imadegbelo of the Edo State High Court for failing to produce a suspect, Richman Pere, who he stood for.
Lovely was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on two counts of conspiracy to pervert justice and failure to produce a suspect.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following the plea of the defendant, the EFCC counsel, Ibrahim Mohammed, asked the court for a trial date and to remand the defendant in a correctional facility.
Lovely’s counsel, Marta Imafu, moved a bail application of her client, but this was opposed by the prosecution counsel. ....

The Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded in police custody, a businessman, Chidi Nwanyanwu, charged with adulteration of engine oil and inscribing forged Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) logos on the product.
