A human rights activist and lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, and other prominent lawyers have written a joint letter to the President of Cape Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, seeking the immediate release of a Venezuelan special envoy, Alex Saab, currently being detained in the country.
The letter dated January 7, 2021, and addressed to Fonseca, was jointly signed by Falana, Jose M.P. Monteiro, Rutsel S. J Martha and Baltasar R. Garzon, who are all of Saab’s counsel.
The lawyers, in the letter obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, described the continued detention of Saab by the Cape Verdean authorities as illegal. ....
