An education. Hello and welcome to Al Jazeera America, im Morgan Radford in new york. A massive storm is bearing down on indias coast as we speak. Cyclone phailin, fez we are talking just a matter of hours before the storm strikes but is india really ready . Well, morgan, it is a little bit of a mix here. A lot of people in small fishing villages, they seem to be worried about the storm and whats going to happen. But in the outer section of the storm, a lot of people are coming to the beach as almost a picnic atmosphere, its actually a holiday today. People are telling me they are worried about the storm but if we buckle down well be perfectly fine. Weve learned theres about 10 Million People that could be affected by the path of cyclone phailin. More people than in new york state. The huge wall of water that crashed on the coastline so the most the government is doing to prepare people is moving them into shelters. Harry reid the majority leader also spoke earlier today. He said essentially discussion involving the republicans particularly in the house and the white house is over. Its finished. Now its all eyes on the senate when it comes to raising the debt ceiling. Heres what he
Out of washington as no end to the shutdown is in sight. John boehner has also stopped speaking with the white house. Now with a difficult assignment this morning, figuring out what is the latest . Reporter i know, i know. We werent expecting much to happened i dont think anybody was. But weve had some pretty fine political theater which i would like to tell but. The house convened earlier this morning, and the democrats have been lining up one by one to ask the presiding speaker for permission to have an unanimous vote. Rand one by one the speaker turned down on the grounds that they dont have appropriate clearance. Youll note no republicans took part of this, its a rare tool that the minority has in the house if they wish to stir things up a bit. They also have discharge possession that almost never works. In 1996 and 2002 as well, but the discharge position would allow them to open a clean government. There would be with committee involved and almost no leadership involvement, not n
