one of the really wonderful things about the center for the study of the presidency and congress and csis is there both founded by the late david asher. for those of you who knew him, he was a remarkable remarkable man who we all loved. he lived to see this building, which was really terrific. he started csis over 50 years ago with admiral burke. four years we were at 18th and gay and less opulent surroundings to say the least that is putting it mildly spirit we would ve been doing this book taught in the basement with no windows. we would never have gotten here though without david. it s an honor to be working with the center for the study of the presidency and congress. and, of course, at my friend james kitfield here it was written another remarkable book. i don t have to redo his bio. you all know it. he s one of the best, best military reporters to ever work in this town. he is one of the best authors. he has the respect of the people that he interviews and writes ab ....

2002. after the news and photographs emerged from the united states military detention of iraqis at abu ghraib, the intelligence committee held a hearing on the matter on may 12th, 2004. without disclosing any details of its own interrogation program cia director john mcglocklin testified that ciaer interrogationse were nothing lie what was depicted at abu ghraib. the united states prison in iraq where detainees were abused by american personnel. this of course was false. cia detainees at one facility, a described as a dungeon, were kept in complete darkness, constantly shackled in isolated cells, with loud noise or music and only a bucket to use for human waste.ur the u.s. bureau of prisons personnel went to that location in november 2002 and according to a con tame rain just internal cia email told cia officers they had quote, never been in a facility where an individuals are so sensory-deprived, end quote. again, source, ci email, sender and recipient redacted, decem ....
they have been covering the thousands of syrian refugees flooding into europe. you think all of these refugees seeking asylum or might be looking to see something else? we have ilium. so what amazes me is how fast it has deteriorated. it is a mass. i was in north africa last weekend and in morocco at her security conference, there were several people who had been flown in from libya who described a scene that is pretty disordered. but i m not sure that it s on the brink of total disaster. these folks seem to be able to move in and out. but it might be well to put this in context. so this country is a vast area that is a thin veneer of population, write up on the coast on the mediterranean but it is a strategic location. something else whatever it was three years ago the push to get into this country and do something lead to better judgment, what are we going to do how are we going to do it pretty logical questions that didn t seem to have good answers at the time and ....
