The Cubs have had their fair share of different heroes winning games recently.
Thursday afternoon, it was Ian Happ, who homered twice in a 5-2 Cubs win over the Nationals. The win gave the Cubs the series three games to one, put them over .500 again at 22-21. They’ve won five of seven and since hitting a season-low four games under .500 May 2, nine of 14.
This is all great news, but after I tell you about this win, I’m going to open the complaint department door just a smidge.

It’s been fairly well-documented that the mythical 40-game mark is an arbitrary and not particularly useful tool for evaluating a season or predicting what will happen in the future.
But with roughly 25 percent of the season in the books, it’s still not a bad time to take stock and see where things stand.

Last weekend, the Yankees finished off a homestand that saw them seemingly (hopefully) get back on track by winning two consecutive games on walk-off hits against Nationals.
While that’s not a rare occurrence, it’s also not something that happens every season for the Yankees. Notching wins of those varieties back-to-back like that is also a lot of fun. If it’s during an overall winning steak, it can lead to a feeling like a team is invincible, even if that’s not true.
