Published July 30, 2021, 5:09 PM The identities of four more military personnel who died in the tragic C-130 plane crash in Patikul, Sulu earlier this month have already been confirmed, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced Friday, July 30. Captain Jonathan Zata, AFP public affairs chief, identified the fatalities as Sergeant Jelson Sadjail, Corporal Alhamin Salahuddin, and Privates First Class Alzin Hawrani and Nazer Albaracin. All four were Philippine Army (PA) personnel. “The AFP, through the Western Mindanao Command, has reached out to the loved ones of the identified personnel while their remains are being prepared for transport and proper burial,” Zata said. ....

DND, AFP back designation of NDF as terrorist group NDFP flag The Department of National Defense (DND) and the military are backing the move of the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) to designate the National Democratic Front (NDF) as a terrorist organization over its links to communist rebels. In a statement on Tuesday, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said the DND is hoping the designation will push government efforts to solve the security issues in the Philippines. “The Department hopes that this development justifies and enables the defense sector to move forward in its efforts to address internal security concerns and lay the foundations of sustainable, lasting peace and national development,” he said. ....
