On a recent adventure, I stopped at a gas station and started filling the tank. A gentleman at a nearby pump smiled over at me.
Actually, I believe he was smiling, since the corner of his eyes crinkled. Nearly a year into our mask-wearing, it’s easier than ever to know a person’s expression.
When their eyes crinkle, there’s a smile. I crinkled back while nodding my head.

On a recent outing, I found myself nearing a special place where my family had such fun in the past.
I know it’s a derelict eyesore now along Interstate 15, but I just had to visit.
Parking near one of the two entrances, closed now with huge boulders blocking all vehicle traffic, I walked into the park.
Yes, there were signs on the other boulder-blocked gate that warned me not to trespass, but there were no such signs on the open gate by which I had parked. We must look for the subtle nuances sometimes. ....

I read that Kelso was a ghost town. I like ghost towns though I have never met a ghost and, as I’ve mentioned before, the jury is still out for me as it relates to their purported existence.
Be that as it may, traveling the byways as I do, the prospect of stumbling across a real ghost town always thrills me especially one from the late-1900s that may or may not let me see a ghost cowboy riding a ghost horse through the dusty streets of that ghost town. ....

The Christmas season is upon us. Time to get out and shop. Or more likely sit on the sofa and order online.
It is 2020 after all. And remember, no more than zero guests are allowed for any planned holiday festivities. In fact, rumor has it that new guidance may be out soon which will outlaw eating alone so you don’t spread COVID-19 to yourself.
Which brings me to a point.
One of the most thoughtful and handsome characters is that yuletide favorite, the Grinch. He who cares so much for the townsfolk of Whoville, that he takes away all their gifts. It’s a teachable moment for those residing in that whacky little town. The Grinch wants to show them that presents are not what make the season. It is what is in the heart that truly matters. ....
