Maryland Rolls On, Johns Hopkins Upsets Rutgers

The Maryland Terrapins continued to do what they have all season long: win. In Thursday night’s Big Ten semifinal contest, the Terrapins took down the Michigan Wolverines 16-8.
Michigan got the scoring started with two early scores from Josh Zawada and Tyler Papa, but once Maryland hot going they wouldn’t slow down. The Terrapins scored six straight from the 7:33 mark in the first through the 10:51 mark in the second to push ahead 6-2.
Maryland enjoyed another big run in the second half, scoring five straight in the third quarter to take a 14-6 lead into the fourth quarter and essentially seal the deal. ....

Big Ten Semis: Johns Hopkins Upends Rutgers, Keeps Winning 'One-Game Seasons'

A big day at the face-off X, some clutch goalie play in the fourth quarter, and four Johnathan Peshko goals helped Johns Hopkins to a Big Ten Semifinal upset over Rutgers on Thursday. 
Peshko led the way offensively for the sixth-seeded Blue Jays’ 12-10 win over the Scarlet Knights, while Matt Narewski went 18-of-23 facing off and five of Tim Marcille’s 12 saves were made in the final frame as Hopkins took another step closer to stealing an unlikely berth in the NCAA Tournament. 
“The guys are fired up at the chance to play again. We’re playing one-game seasons and moving on to our third one,” Hopkins coach Peter Milliman said postgame. “I think the guys are really excited after playing well the last few weeks. It’s taken a while to get here, but they played with great energy, played hard and I really enjoyed it.” ....

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA The sixth-seeded and 20th-ranked Johns Hopkins men s lacrosse team got 10 goals from midfielders, an 18-of-23 performance on faceoffs from junior Matt Narewski and 12 saves from sophomore goalie Tim Marcille as the Blue Jays stunned second-seeded and sixth-ranked Rutgers, 12-10, in the Big Ten Semifinals Thursday night.  The Blue Jays (4-8) advance to Saturday night s championship game, where they will face top-ranked Maryland.

No. 3 Penn State Men's Lacrosse Embarrassed By No. 6 Johns Hopkins 15-7, Bounced From Big Ten Tournament


No. 3 Penn State men’s lacrosse (4-7) was dominated from start to finish by No. 6 Johns Hopkins (3-8) in a 15-7 thrashing at Panzer Stadium on Saturday. Despite coming in as the favorites, Penn State didn’t stand much of a chance from the end of the first quarter on.
Mac O’Keefe and TJ Malone were the only Nittany Lions that did anything offensively, as they both put up three points. Aleric Fyock started in goal, making five saves while allowing 11 goals, before being replaced by Colby Kneese, who made one save on five shots.
For Hopkins, Connor DeSimone had six points and Cole Williams had four goals. Tim Marcille was great in the cage for the Blue Jays, making 12 saves on 18 shots. ....
