DID YOU KNOW: Who is the Widger in Marblehead s Widger Road A brief history of the Widger Family Mark Hurwitz For generations, Marblehead residents have sought out healthcare on Widger Road. First at the Mary Alley Hospital then the North Shore Physicians Group Medical Building. If you are like me, I have always been curious about how a street got its name. Growing up in a historic town such as Marblehead, many of our streets are named for either Founding Fathers such as George Washington, or maybe an 18th century French Military Officer- General Marquis De Lafayette. Washington and Lafayette of course are household names for those familiar with the American Revolution, but what about the other streets in Marblehead, what interesting and/or exciting lives did certain individuals lead to have a street named after them.
