NATS to hold 2021 Summer Workshop, NSA as virtual events

Registration for the Virtual Summer Workshop and applications for NSA now open
The National Association of Teachers of Singing is moving full steam ahead with plans to hold its 2021 Summer Workshop and National Student Auditions (NSA) as fully online events. The adjustment from in-person to virtual is necessary due to event planning concerns with the ongoing pandemic.
The 2021 Virtual Summer Workshop will take place Thursday-Saturday, July 8-10, and this year’s theme is “Lighting the Spark: Inspiring Diverse Repertoire.”
The workshop will offer a survey of diverse vocal repertoire designed to expand our musical horizons and inspire passion for performance. The sessions feature works from under-represented areas and topics include:

SU’s virtual spring Creative Writing Reading Series continues Wednesday, March 10, as SU creative writing faculty read from their works. Authors include Drs. Ryan Habermeyer, John Nieves and Christine Spillson. They also provide information about the creative writing track in SU’s English major.

Well over 100 people packed a Kalamazoo Planning Committee meeting to discuss a proposal to remove a natural features protection overlay (NFP) and rezone land near Asylum Lake Preserve on Jan. 14, 2020. The meeting lasted nearly six hours.Â
