Nicole hi, i am nicole rhodes. Nice to see you. Thank you so much for being here. Im the director of Audience Engagement at the pennsylvania horticultural society. And, we are so excited to learn about the movement and principles that inspired the creation of philadelphias only public landscape designed by the olmsted firm of landscape architects. To understand the historical parts of this space as many of us repair to visit it, and also in advance of the upcoming olmsted 200 bicentennial of which lori is the honorary chair. Laurie is the honorary chair. Lots of intersections to this landscape right now. We have many people here from outside the region. Welcome all of you. For any of you new to phs, we use Gardening And Greening as a tool for community development. That means everything from investing in community gardens to increasing the number of trees planted in on streets throughout the region. At 8pm eastern on american History Tv. 2022 marks the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Law olmstead the Landscape Architect who designed many of the most notable urban parks in the United States over 100 years from the 1850s to about 1960. He and then the olmstead firm. He founded completed thousands of landscape projects next Landscape Architect. Lori olin tells the story of Frederick Law Olmsteds Career and the work of the olmsted firm culminating in a discussion of the creation and current status of Fdr Park in philadelphia. The pennsylvania horticultural society provided the video and cohosted this event with a national association for olmsted parks as part of olmsted 200 a wideranging bicentennial initiative. topics. it s one of the few places if not the only place where you can see and hear a lot of different voices and perspectives on a lot of different topics. we bring in authors who are well-known but we also bring in authors that you might not know so well. they have a story to tell, they have something to say and so we bring that opportunity to our viewers with different voices. we are talking about isis and tears him the viewers and feedback is really vital to c-span in general. that s part of our mission statement, trying to get viewers to participate. we spend a lot of time thinking about what our viewers would want. we listen to our viewers about who they want to hear and who they want to see. we take that into account. we will have call in program we can bring the viewers into the mix so they can talk to the authors as well. we have facebook comments and tweets and were getting that constant feedback for them. we go out to the festivals and do live programs and th
