Steven Enting, 36, was sentenced to four months’ home detention and given a ‘second strike’ warning by Judge John Strettell in Queenstown’s court on Tuesday. On January 8, after socialising in central Queenstown, the victim went home by taxi about 9pm and went to sleep in her bedroom. Convicting Enting on the more recent charge, Judge John Strettell sentenced him to four months home detention and gave him a second strike under the three strikes legislation. Enting was also ordered to undertake 150 hours of community work and pay $1500 in reparation to the victim. The maximum sentence for the charge was seven years imprisonment. Queenstown police prosecutor, sergeant Ian Collin, said that on January 8 Enting had been socialising in central Queenstown with friends. The victim went to his flat at about 9pm before going to sleep in a bedroom, but woke at about 11.50pm to find Enting touching her hip and kissing her in the same area. ....
