Bill: we are learn more about a mail bomb delivered to an elderly couple s home east of nashville, tennessee. the package exploded late on monday killing a 74-year-old retired lawyer. his name is john setzer and critically injuring his wife. she is in the hospital. investigators are ruling out accidental causes but not saying if the couple was a target or not. we re not saying this is isolated but we re also not wanting the public to panic. carrying that safety message, if you receive something that is suspicious, that is not expected, make those phone calls. let us make sure you don t have an issue. bill: jonathan gilliam, a former fbi special agent with the joint terrorism task force and navy seal and federal air marshal. you ve done everything, jonathan. good morning. good morning. bill: take us through the investigation and you look at this man and his wife. right. bill: and his life defined what? they will look for patterns ....
Attorney. a lawyer from tennessee dead and his wife seriously hurt after a package delivered to his home explodes. trace live in our newsroom with this horrible story. what do you know? it happened in lebanon, tennessee, five miles outside nashville. he walks in to retrieve the package and brings it back into the house and seconds a littler it exploded. listen to a principal at a nearby elementary describe what she heard. i heard a big boom, looked out the window, did not see anything. thought someone might have actually backed into the building next to my office. when i came out, i could see about seven emergency vehicles in the yard. when i left, there were two more entering. so i knew something pretty serious had happened. police have ruled out any accide accidental causes, saying this appears to be a deliberate attack. they won t disclose how the package was delivered to the home or what type of package it was. the blast, we know, killed john ....
Setzer, seriously injured his wife, who remains in serious condition and also blew out many of the windows and did extensive damage inside the house. police say this appears to have been a very powerful explosive. gretchen. any word what possibly could be the motive in this? not that police are disclosing right now. we do know, along with state and local police, the fbi is involved, alcohol, tobacco and firearms as well as homeland security. we know john setzer is a retired lawyer who specialized in bankruptcy cases. his former partner says there were never any cases that resulted in any threats. by all accounts, this is a much loved couple. the husband was a pastor at a local church and years ago their 3-year-old son was killed by a dog. and ever since then, they have been counseling other families who have lost children. so far, police little to go on in this case. wow. ....
