Jazz90.1 Announces Live Concert Series Lineup for 2021-22 Season
If you enjoy listening to Jazz90.1 and live jazz around town, be sure to check out the next season of the Jazz90.1 Live Studio Concert Series. This year, the series will highlight many of Rochester’s hottest jazz and blues groups, as well as some newcomers to the series.
Jazz90.1 (WGMC 90.1) will present live on-air performances by Jon Seiger and The All-Stars on September 22, Hanna PK and Aleks Disljenkovic on October 20, The John Nyerges and Vince Ercolamento Duo on November 17, Judah Sealy on January 27, Cool Club & Lipker Sisters on February 2, The Russell Scarbrough Big Band on March 23, Soul Chameleon on April 13, and The Bob Sneider Trio on May 18. The series will also include TWO big band holiday performances this season. The Brockport Big Band will perform on December 1, and The Greece Jazz Band will perform on December 15. ....

Dyads (Out Of Your Head): “Michael and Peter Formanek started making music and improvising together before Peter started school. Regular visits to their home from friends and colleagues like Tim Berne, Jim Black, Marty Ehrlich and many others only served to normalize this as being an essential part of human interaction. During much of their time living in Baltimore and as Peter began to study music formally (first on guitar then on saxophones and woodwinds), it was just part of daily life to have musicians come by to play, rehearse, or just hang out. This eventually turned into regular groups and collaborations that performed in local venues in and around Baltimore. For Peter’s eighteenth birthday they played a night of Michael’s music at the Cornelia Street Cafe with a lineup of Tim Berne and Peter Formanek on saxophones, Jacob Sacks on piano, Jim Black on drums, and Michael Formanek on bass. Peter went to University of Michigan in Ann Arbo ....
