Redford Classic Cartoon Festival Two completely different programs: The 2 pm KIDS’ KARTOON KAVALCADE is focused on popular cartoon characters like Superman, Popeye, Mr Magoo, Flip the Frog, Felix the Cat and Daffy Duck, with a Tex Avery classic thrown in. Five cartoons will be rare 35mm film prints! Hosted by animation expert and restorer Steve Stanchfield. The 8 pm OUT OF THE INKWELL program is a tribute to the Fleischer Studios that gave us Popeye, Betty Boop, Bimbo and Koko, plus a series of still-astonishing Superman cartoons. It will be cohosted by Jane Fleischer (granddaughter of genius Max Fleischer) and Fleischer studios experts Ray Pointer and Steve Stanchfield, including post-screening Q and A. Cartoons from the 1920s to 1950s will be shown, including late-career work from Max’s time at the Jam Handy studios in Detroit. Both shows are perfect for the whole family.
