On a blustery Thursday afternoon, the vaccine clinic at John Hunt Park in Huntsville was wrapping up another day of vaccinations, with hundreds coming in and out to get a dose of the vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech.
Among them was Diana Hankey Underwood. She brought her 93-year-old mother, Carol, in for her first dose Thursday morning and was returning that afternoon with her husband so that they could get their shots.

One North Alabama woman is answering that call for help by coming out of retirement.
Kathi Sutton spent 33 years working at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children until she retired last January. But a few months ago she decided to rejoin the effort. ....

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Huntsville Hospital CEO David Spillers says that John Hunt Park will serve as north Alabama’s large-scale vaccination clinic.
Spillers made the announcement during the Wednesday Huntsville-Madison County COVID-19 briefing that happens weekly.
On Wednesday, when the news was announced, you had to certify that you were a Madison County resident to sign-up on Huntsville Hospital’s waitlist. The Hospital said on Thursday that requirement has been removed from their online form, and that the clinic is open to residents outside of Madison County. ....

Hunstville Hospital CEO David Spillers said the current coronavirus vaccine site at John Hunt Park in Huntsville will get more doses so it can be one of Alabama s large-scale clinics.
Starting Monday, Spillers said they plan to administer 1,000 more shots per day at John Hunt. This would put the daily number of doses near 2,000 per day, or three doses every minute, Spillers said.
This will be appointment only. Walk-ups are discouraged, Spillers said Wednesday.
It will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
