The Bentley Batur: a very lovely sort of madness

“Thrupp & Maberly,” said Wendy, my mother-in-law, with the air of one laying down a perfect bridge hand at the vicarage drive.

Glasgow Film Festival reveals full 2021 programme

Credit: Glasgow Film Festival Glasgow Film Festival, which runs from 24th February to 7th March 2021, has revealed the full programme for its 2021 festival, with screenings hosted on Glasgow Film’s new online viewing platform Glasgow Film At Home. The programme contains 6 World premieres, 2 European premieres and 49 UK premieres. Originally planned as a hybrid in-cinema and online festival, GFF21 will now take place online only, due to the lockdown restrictions affecting most of Scotland and the rest of the UK. The festival will open on Wednesday 24 February with Lee Isaac Chung’s autobiographical drama following a Korean-American family ‘Minari’, starring ‘The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun, and close on Sunday 7 March with Suzanne Lindon’s debut feature ‘Spring Blossom’, a coming-of-age tale set against a dreamy Parisian backdrop.

Jack Haugh Review of the Year: Goodness shone through in darkest of years

Jack Haugh Review of the Year: Goodness shone through in darkest of years THE first days of a new job are always quite something, aren’t they?  We’ve all been there. You get to the office that little bit early, full of hope of what’s to come yet nervous to the pit of your stomach, determined to make a good first impression.  In the days and weeks ahead mistakes will be made, friendships formed, and you’ll eventually shake-off that “new guy” tag, which by my money is when you finally know how your colleagues take their tea (if they’re reading and still unsure, I’m a splash of milk, no sugar).
