Due to rip currents. Last sunday a 14yearold philadelphia boy drowned off the ninth street beach in ocean city when rip currents pulled him out to sea. If you are caught in a rip current, stay calm. Do not try to swim back to the beach against the current. Just going to make yourself more tired. Instead, swim parallel to the beach until you can get away from the current. The currents are generally pretty narrow. Youll be able to get out of it and then have a less resistance as you head back to the beach on an angle.
