As the Holyrood election approaches, more than a quarter of MSPs are getting ready to stand down.
A total of 34 of the 129 members in the last Parliament are not not seeking re-election to the Scottish Parliament this year.
Three former party leaders and four current Government ministers are included on the list of MSPs not standing for re-election on May 6.

SNP should not have simply brushed off women's concerns about self-ID

Johann Lamont s amendment to the Forensic Medical Services (Scotland) Bill passed after a backlash from women
I CANNOT agree with Stephen Paton that the SNP has burned bridges with the LGBT community over the last five years (LGBT community needs more than platitudes to restore faith, April 19). It is women they have sacrificed on the altar of ideology.
Stephen bemoans their perceived lack of action on equality, but is a little selective, implying that it is only lowering the legal age of recognising gender identity that is in question, but omitting the part where it is to be on a person’s own self-identification, rather than as a result of medical process and opinion, without hormone treatment and so on having even started. ....

Police Scotland: Biologically Male Rapists can 'Self-Identify' as Female

18 Apr 2021
Suspected and convicted rapists are allowed to self-identify as female, Police Scotland revealed following a freedom of information request from a feminist think tank.
The police force for Scotland said that if a rape or suspected rape was committed by a “male who self-identifies as a woman… the male who self-identifies as a woman would be expected to be recorded as a female on relevant police systems.”
Detective Superintendent Fil Capaldi said per
The Sunday Times: “The sex/gender identification of individuals who come into contact with the police will be based on how they present or how they self-declare, which is consistent with the values of the organisation. ....

Former Green MSP Andy Wightman: I won't rule out standing again or joining another party

MSP Andy Wightman said he has not ruled out standing in the Holyrood elections as an independent candidate, or for another party.
The Lothians representative quit the Scottish Greens today after being torn over a vote in Holyrood last week.
He said he was ashamed of how he had voted on the Forensic Medical Services (Victims of Sexual Offences) (Scotland) Bill last week, around one particular amendment.
The Bill is intended to ensure victims of sexual offences are given forensic medical examinations, and it enables them to refer themselves for exams even if they do not report their assault to the police. ....
