El Paso to let people pick COVID-19 vaccination appointment times

On Monday, the city will have an appointment-free vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eastside Sports Complex, 14380 Montwood Drive.
Leeser said the city also is continuing its efforts to fully vaccinate those who have received their first vaccine dose but are still waiting on their second dose by asking them to call 915-212-6843 or to visit epcovidvaccine.com.
Seniors closer to herd immunity
More than 84% of seniors, Leeser said, have received their first dose and nearly 70% of seniors 65 years old and older are fully vaccinated.
So, that tells you that our seniors, 65 and over, are almost reaching that part of the population of herd immunity, Leeser said, adding that moving senior vaccination sites has been a key part of making sure El Paso s most vulnerable residents are protected. ....

El Paso mayor, county judge say vaccine demand reducing while supply increases
EL PASO, Texas At a news conference Friday, Mayor Oscar Leeser and County Judge Ricardo Samaniego said El Paso is starting to see a decline in demand for the Covid-19 vaccine, but the community is still “pro-vaccination.”
The officials said there is no longer a wait list for people to get vaccinated through the EP Covid vaccine website. At one point, there had been more than 300,000 registrations.
“We’ve gone through that list,” said Leeser, indicating that the city was able to go through that list “quickly” because many people were double, even triple registered. Many had also already received the vaccine at other locations by the time the city had reached out to them to schedule an appointment. ....
