In our 2022 Spring Arts Guide, Mercury critic Joe Streckert profiled a popular Portland State University (PSU) comics project called Changing the Narrative, which collected ten stories about homelessness, and what it means to cope with food and housing insecurity. Printed as an 80-page full color comic, Changing the Narrative's print run of 4,000 copies—sold and distributed via Street Roots vendors—sold out in two weeks.
