The motion was made by Ward 3 Council member Clayton Briggs and seconded by Ward 6 Council member Dylane Klatt after a closed session, allowed by state statute, that ran for almost an hour in the city hall council chambers. Mike Christopherson There should be more clarity sometime next Monday evening, July 19, regarding the future of Craig Hoiseth as executive director of the Crookston Housing and Economic Development Authority (CHEDA). The Crookston City Council will hold a special meeting in the city hall council chambers at 5:30 p.m. Monday to authorize what the council approved on a 5-3 vote on Monday, July 12, regarding six council members and Mayor Dale Stainbrook taking over as CHEDA Board members – the members of the previous board were no longer considered board members as of July 13 – and having the power to act on agenda items at a special CHEDA Board member that will immediately follow the July 19 special council meeting. (The council at the special meeting will also authorize their powers as CHEDA Board regarding the regularly scheduled CHEDA Board meeting set for 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20.) ....

Mike Christopherson The Crookston City Council Monday evening voted 6-2 in favor of calling for a public hearing that will take place when they next meet on July 12 at which making major changes to the Crookston Housing and Economic Development Authority (CHEDA) will be discussed. After that hearing, it’s anticipated that the council agenda for that evening’s meeting will include a resolution calling for a council vote on the major changes being proposed. Voting in favor were council members Kristie Jerde, Clayton Briggs, Don Cavalier, Joe Kresl, Dylane Klatt and Wayne Melbye. Voting against were council members Tom Vedbraaten and Steve Erickson, both of which also serve on the CHEDA Board. Melbye is a “council liaison” to the CHEDA Board. ....
Mike Christopherson The Crookston City Council Monday evening, in front of a full city hall council chambers, advanced two resolutions, each calling for June 14 public hearings that relate to dissolving the Crookston Housing and Economic Development Authority (CHEDA) and replacing it with a City-run Community Development Department. The vote on the resolution calling for the first public hearing, which relates specifically to the dissolution of CHEDA, was five in favor, one against, and two abstentions. Council members Kristie Jerde, Clayton Briggs, Don Cavalier, Dylane Klatt and Wayne Melbye voted in favor, Joe Kresl voted against, and council members Tom Vedbraaten and Steve Erickson, who both sit on the CHEDA Board of Directors as well, abstained. ....
