WORK to remove asbestos material from around Royal West of Scotland Amateur Boat Club is now underway. Ayrshire company Strada Environmental have been identifying, collecting, bagging and safely disposing of the material this week and are due to complete the task tomorrow. The asbestos was classed as low hazard non-notifiable waste in October 2020 but still has to be removed to allow the club to fully comply with control of asbestos regulations. To allow the work to take place, the areas around the Boat Club are completely closed and members have been kept informed of developments. Completion of the work will ensure the club complies with its asbestos management plan, and regular inspections will take place going forward.
