National security correspondent david martin is following developments at the pentagon. David, what do we know . Reporter anthony, we know that now for a second time, north korea has fired a missile over japan. They did one late last month. This one is said by japanese officials to have gone about 1,500 miles past japan, which is further than the last test went. Now, u. S. Intelligence had been expecting a test of either an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile or an intermediaterange missile. We dont know yet which this was. If it was an intercontinental missile, it could have been fired at a high enough angle to keep it well short of the united states. If it was an intermediaterange missile, it would have had the range to hit american bases in guam, but it was not fired in that direction. But either way, it seems like no
