The administration of new US President Joe Biden has launched a formal review of the future of the notorious US military prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, in yet another move aimed at distancing Washington from his predecessor’s flawed polices and reviving the Obama-era goal of closing the controversial detention

Reuters news agency cited a White House official familiar with the Guantanamo case as saying on Friday that presidential aides involved in internal discussions were considering an executive action to be signed by Biden in coming weeks or months. ....

Boris Johnson has condemned Donald Trump for encouraging people to storm the Capitol as he says he is very pleased that democracy has prevailed .
The Prime Minister, responding to Wednesday s violence at the Capitol building in Washington DC, said: For him to cast doubt on a free and fair election, that s completely wrong.
I unreservedly condemn encouraging people to behave in the disgraceful way he did in the Capitol, I m very pleased the President Elect has been confirmed in office and that democracy has prevailed. ....
