And residents across the midwest are returning to communities devastated by wednesday tornadoes and powerful storms. there s still severe weather warnings in effect for tennessee and mississippi and another storm front is coming. springtime can be very violent out there in the plains. well, we re minutes away from the opening bell. time for the market rundown. becky quick is here. becky, weekly jobs claims. what did we get? we got a pretty decent number. a surprisingly strong number. economists had been expecting 351, that s what it came in at. and i guess the surprise here is that number continues to confound people like ben bernanke who say that the jobs picture has been much better than the fed had been anticipating. this morning, looks like the futures are opening up. looks like we re up about 40 points on the dow. the numbers that came in, very positive from wall street s perspective. you continue to see some improvement coming into the jobless picture. not only are the jobles ....

U.s. and chinese economy are pushing futures lower. cnbc s brian shactman joins us now with the market rundown. number one, slovakia back in, so that s good news. yeah. but what about some of the weekly jobs claims? is that driving the market today? well, a little bit, chuck. they re a little change but still above 400,000 and that s not a great thing for the economy. and then we got some word that china s export growth to europe, and it sounds like a little inside baseball, but it s their number one exporter, cut in half from august to september. so that s significant. that s driving us down a little bit. jpmorgan reported their earnings, the first of the big banks, did beat estimates, but it is still down. they re not showing growth, not making a lot of money. the one other thing i want to point out before i get to blackberry, foreclosures over the summer spiked and it s a good and a bad news story. because maybe it s showing the banks are starting to work through that inventor ....

Per gallon. this is a big decision and it s the right decision. why would you oppose a project, sir, that supporters say will create thousands of jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil? why would you oppose that. first of all, any comprehensive analysis of the jobs claims would see that the jobs claims were greatly exaggerated. there s ways for us to create jobs in this country. we could rebuild america s infrastructure without ruining the air and the water. also the idea of submitting ourselves to the mercies of the canadian oil market needs to be looked at carefully. what canada said in the application for this permit that they had initially hidden but it was later found out was that they were going to bypass midwest refineries which would drive up the price of gasoline in the midwest. so the this wasn t good for the american people. and it wasn t good for ohio where i m from and frankly, the president made the right decision. we we talk about the number of jobs that hav ....
