MUSCAT - Sultan Haitham bin Tariq moved quickly in response to young protesters demanding work and ordered the implementation of a plan to employ more than 32,000 jobless youths, despite the difficult economic conditions Oman is going through as a result of the pandemic and the decline in state revenues with the fall of oil prices.

The General Federation of Oman Workers (GFOW) said that a set of legislations and initiatives implemented recently will fundamentally make the labor market in the private sector in the Sultanate more attractive, especially the abolition of the requirement to provide a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).
The decision to scrap NOC will undoubtedly contribute to reducing human trafficking and providing more room for the worker to get better job opportunities, said Nabhan al Battashi, chairman of GFOW, in his statement on the occasion of Labour Day on May 1.

Omanisation in large commercial establishments is feasible and it has been well-received, said the Minister of Manpower recently in an interview.
“Some other countries have also completely nationalized these sectors and after a study, we found that it is easy to apply in Oman.
