A first taste of Glastonbury's new cheddar – headline act or festival flop?

Buttery and tangy, with a hint of acidity and delicately matured. No, this isn t Taylor Swift s long-awaited Glastonbury headline slot, but something rather more mundane: a hunk of cheddar. Not any cheddar, mind, but one produced from the very green and pleasant fields TayTay was due to perform in last year, until. well, we all know what happened next. 
It’s been a tough year for one of Britain’s most significant cultural events. Last year’s swashbuckling 50th birthday party, with Sir Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar and Swift headlining – for which 135,000 tickets were sold in 34 minutes, and 2.3 million more applied – was postponed. 2021 s festival has also been pushed back, which some reports suggest could cost Glastonbury up to £100m. In 2020, its founder Michael Eavis warned that bankruptcy was a possibility.  ....

Glastonbury Festival and Wyke Farms team up for new Worthy Farm cheddar


The cheese is made by Wyke Farms using milk from Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis’ herd of cows
Wyke Farms has teamed up with nearby Worthy Farm – the home of Glastonbury Festival and an award-winning dairy farm in its own right – for the launch of a Glasto-themed reserve cheddar.
The cheese, which is exclusive to the Co-op, will go on sale nationally on 17 February, and has been created using milk from Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis’ award-winning herd, which graze on the festival site all year round.
Worthy Farm Reserve Cheddar carries packaging that pays homage to the iconic Pyramid stage. It is aged under wood for six months, and delivered “a mature rounded, smooth and moreish flavour with a hint of sweetness”, the Co-op said. ....
