President obama said on a number of occasions that he wanted judges that had empathy for parties. Well, the problem with that, if youre not the party for whom the judge has empathy, youre in for a pretty rough ride. This administration, the trump administration, has taken the approach, the rather quaint approach that the judge of a judge is try to interpret the law as its written. Justice scalia used to say if youre not uncomfortable occasionally with the outcome youve reached, youre not a very good judge. Justice gorsuch said, judges dont wear red, dont wear blue, they wear black. We are this week going to confirm four circuit junction. Chairman grassley has done an extraordinary job of processing the judges and getting them out and available for us to move forward and thats what we intent to do beginning this week. Mr. President , on another matter yesterday the senate advanced nomination of professor amy barrett, President Trumps impressive nominee to be a judge on the seventh Circuit Court of appeals. She is the first of for strong nominees to our nation Circuit Court that the senate will confirm this week. Professor barretts experience as it was law professor at the university of notre dame shows her qualifications to serve our nation on the federal bench. She is going to be an asset to our judiciary. Of course, some on the left have tried to invent any reason to prevent this president nominees from advancing. For an outstanding nominee like professor barrett was not easy. They attacked her credentials which are truly. They cant attack her belief in the rule of law.
