Police investigate fire at University of Sharjah

An investigation into a fire at the University of Sharjah on Saturday is under way. The blaze broke out in the evening, sending plumes of black smoke into the sky, and soon spread to caravans in the courtyard of the university’s Khor Fakkan campus. Col Sami Al Naqbi, director general of Sharjah Civil Defence, said it received a report at 8.13pm and sent firefighters to the scene. They contained the fire but the caravans and their contents were badly damaged. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is now under investigation by forensic experts.
