Hana Kimura memorial show live results: Kagetsu, others in action

Hana Kimura’s memorial show takes place this evening at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The show commemorates the one year anniversary of Kimura’s death. Kimura, 22, passed away on May 23, 2020 by suicide, believed to be brought on by cyberbullying following an incident that aired on a reality show Kimura was on called Terrance House. In pro wrestling, Kimura was best known for her run in Stardom, where she held the Artist of Stardom title twice and the Goddess of Stardom title once. Those scheuled to compete on tonight’s card include Super Delfin, HUB, Yuko Miyamoto, Munenori Sawa, Kaori Yoneyama, Cherry, Hanako Nakamori, Yuki Miyazaki, ASUKA (Veny), Kagetsu (coming out of retirement for one night only), Mio Momono, and Mika Iwata.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Kenny Omega spoke about the exploding barbed wire death match with Jon Moxley at AEW Revolution this Sunday and why he chose the stipulation. Here are highlights: On the concept of the match: “The idea itself is incredible. You touch the ropes and they explode. This is a match that was made famous about 30 years ago in FMW. It’s not like a cage match where you have a pretty good idea about what you’ll see. With this, there are going to be so many unexpected parts.” On playing a bad guy and defying expectations: “I despise when I come across as too arrogant, but I never doubted that I could do this. I’ve been hearing for over a year these expectations of what I was supposed to be in AEW. Kenny Omega on the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch: “The idea itself is incredible. You touch the ropes and they explode.” In the midst of yet another career-defining run, Kenny Omega is set to introduce a new match to AEW and, for that matter, to a large portion of the North American audience. Omega defends the AEW Championship this Sunday the company’s first pay-per-view not on a Saturday at Revolution against Jon Moxley in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. The match, which was a staple of Japan’s Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling in the 1990s, features barbed wire taking the place of the ring ropes, with the added caveat of there being explosives in wires.

Top Japanese Star Reportedly Signs WWE Contract Veteran Japanese star Meiko Satomura has signed a contract with WWE. It was reported back in the fall that Satomura had reportedly signed on to work the WWE NXT UK brand as a coach and in-ring talent. Now Yahoo Japan reports that the signing has been confirmed. It was noted that Satomura has been in London, England since January 6. She is training at the WWE UK Performance Center and apparently preparing for her in-ring debut for the brand. Regarding her relationship with Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, the Yahoo Japan report indicated that Satomura will continue to be the president of the promotion, and will continue to work with them. She helped create the promotion with Jinsei Shinzaki in 2006.
