His first had come Sept. 9, 1960, at St. Louis, in his 26th game as a Cub. He played 15 before the season ended, for a total of 41. Heist was 32 years, 286 days old when he made his Major League debut in a 6-0 loss at St. Louis on July 17, 1960, 2 days after the Braves traded him to the Cubs for Earl Averill and $30,000 to $35,000. ....
