MACON, Ga. Marvin Riggins has spoken to the Macon Kiwanis Club for years, but Tuesday marked the first time he did so in civilian clothes.
The former Macon-Bibb County fire chief spent the fifth day of his retirement serving as guest speaker for the club that designated him as their first honorary member.
Club president Mickey Pope said the 41-year veteran of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department personifies the six objectives of Kiwanis – placing higher value on humanity and spirituality over material things, daily encouraging the Golden Rule, promoting higher standards, developing intelligent and serviceable citizenship, forming enduring relationships to build better communities and maintaining high ideals that increase righteousness, justice, patriotism and ....
