First Friday Art Walks are a community event celebrating creativity and art. For months the event has featured online, virtual events to keep guests safe through the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers have now decided to bring back in-person events for the May First Friday Art Walk this week on Friday, May 7. All are welcome to the First Friday Art Walk. Guests are asked to maintain six-foot distance between other guests and face coverings are required for indoor events. âWe are excited and a little nervous about getting back to in person events,â said Katie Marshall, Executive Director of the MacRostie Art Center. âOur gallery capacity is still limited to 50% so weâll have to be mindful of attendance numbers, but Iâm really looking forward to the energy that comes from having people viewing the art and connecting with the artists in person.â ....

The MacRostie Gallery will showcase the mixed media paintings and collages of Karlyn Atkinson Berg in âUnfolding Odyssey.â The Minnesota Gallery will host âThe Little Big Show,â the MACâs annual miniatures exhibition with this yearâs featured artist Jim Zasoski. The public is invited to experience the new exhibitions opening May 7 through the MACâs website or in person at MacRostie Art Center in downtown Grand Rapids. MacRostie Art Center is excited to share two upcoming opportunities for area artists: the MACâs annual miniatures exhibition in May and the Downtown Art Fair in July. The Little Big Show has been an annual exhibition at MacRostie Art Center for over 10 years. This popular event encourages artists to think small! It takes place each May and is an open exhibition. Any artist may submit a piece to be included in the exhibition as long as it meets two criteria: it must be no more than 12â in size in any dimension, and it must be priced at $100 or less if for sale. ....
