CCTV call for bottle banks to combat dumping

CCTV cameras are needed at bottle banks in Ardee to target those dumping beside them.
Cllr Dolores Minogue has taken up the cause of the Ardee Litter Watch group and David Lambe, stating that it was hard on volunteers to be constantly under pressure with high levels of dumping.
She told the area council meeting that it took up to five people an hour to remove the huge number of bottles dumped at the bank.
It s unfair on the two houses beside it as well, she stated. We need cameras there to catch those dumping. There are warning signs, but they still do it. ....

Fears of tragedy on Ardee street

A local councillor had branded Ardee s pedestrian crossings out of date and he s concerned that someone will be killed using them before firm action is taken.
Cllr Jim Tenanty says that the crossings are a nightmare after dark and new LED lights have only added to the problem.
There have been a lot of close calls, he stated.
He said a crossing at the council offices had been out of order for months.
A funding application had been made in August and the council are still waiting for a response.
Cllr Dolores Minogue said that crossings were not as safe as they appeared to be and she backed Cllr Tenanty s concerns. ....
