separates cars.according to police one driver got out of his car and pulled out a gun. chp immediately arrived on scene and asked him to put the gun down.the man refused to comply and tried to raise the gun toward the officers.chp then fired two shots hitting the man in the chest twice. drivers headed north on u.s. highway 101 in san mateo are being asked to use alternate routes, as an deadly officer involved shooting has closed the highway s northbound lanes this evening. the california highway patrol issued a sig-alert for the highway s northbound lanes, just south of state highway 92, and did not provide an estimated time for when they would reopen. the incident was first reported as a traffic collision involving two vehicles at 5:28 p.m. on northbound highway 101. a suspect allegedly got out of a vehicle and began shooting. the chp reported that one person was seen down on the right-hand shoulder. the incident has caused a massive backup in the area.
