A heartwarming scene played out on the campus of Danville Area Community College, where the 102-year-old guest of honor enjoyed cake, camaraderie and rousing chorus of “Happy Birthday.”
As a reward for students reaching their goal of raising $1,000, staff at DeLand-Weldon High School agreed to have beans dumped on them at an end-of-the-day assembly.
