1.The Greek genocide, part of which is known as the Pontic genocide, was the systematic ethnic cleansing of the Christian Ottoman Greek population from its historic homeland. It was instigated by the government of the Ottoman Empire against the Greek population and it included massacres, forced deportations involving death marches (photo below), summary expulsions, arbitrary execution, and the destruction of Christian Orthodox cultural and religious monuments. By the end of the Greco-Turkish War most of the Greeks of Asia Minor had either fled or had been killed. Those remaining were transferred to Greece under the terms of a population exchange agreement, which formalised the exodus and barred the return of the refugees. ....

Fernando Minna, who served as policy adviser to Conservative MP Phil Coleman for over four years before signing on with the Capital Hill Group last month, has had a busy week.
Minna registered for several California-based tech companies, as well as CyberNB Association Inc., which put him at the top of the list for most new registrations this past week.
According to the filings, he’ll be working with the California-based tech company,

Mayor John Tory is distancing himself (sort of) from remarks made about the homeless by his handpicked deputy Denzil Minnan-Wong.
During council’s budget deliberations last week, Minnan-Wong offered in a debate on opening more washrooms in public parks that the move would encourage homeless people to set up encampments. And that’s the last thing, the Don Valley East councillor says, his constituents want to see while they’re outside enjoying the great outdoors. ....
