CHESHIRE â The Town Council found out late last month that during the past year pension expenditures went over budget by about $170,000. Â
âUnfortunately, as our actuaries completed their review of the experience ⦠there were multiple things that worked against us,â Town Manager Sean Kimball said during the April 22 Town Council meeting. âWe had actually hoped that we had conservative numbers in our estimates. But ultimately what happened was that thereâs been a down market, which means our investments werenât quite as high (as we had hoped).â

CHESHIRE â Tensions and frustrations ran high during the most recent School Modernization Committee meeting, where members ultimately decided to push the deadline for presenting a proposal to the Town Council from March 1 to June.
The decision came after multiple members expressed concern over the pace of the committeeâs work and a lack of information over the past few months.Â
âI am really starting to feel like we are going backwards now,â said member Kate OâDonnell, at the Wednesday virtual meeting. âI feel like all the work we did over the past few months was really for nothing.â

CHESHIRE â The School Modernization Committee has been reviewing potential options for its infrastructure plan over the past three weeks, and it appears the group has narrowed it to two different scenarios.Â
Over the course of two recent meetings, the group went through the specifics of the proposals, focusing attention on what the initial phases of those proposals would require. The first of the two plans would include the construction of a new elementary school and a full renovation of Dodd Middle School.
