by filling out a survey, this information assist the staff as they plan future programs so thank you in advance for doing this. following the lecture there will be a book signing outside the door of this room. a service provided by the campus bookstore. in addition to the books, today s event is cosponsored by the national affairs committee of the democrats, also the book would not be possible without such sponsors. the book featured today is the product of 2 two distinguished career journalists. james mccartney, now deceased, and his wife, molly mccartney. for nearly four decades as a reporter for the chicago daily news, james covered the principal institutions of the federal government with special emphasis on war and conflict which he covered in more than 30 countries. molly worked as a reporter for 30 years including 14 years at the washington post. after her husband s death in 2011 molly continued the research and writing of the book he was working on in his retirement.
first of all i tell people we don t build anything, we buy things, first and foremost and we buy them from private industry so our relationship with the private technology sector, the alternative was pride by the soviet union which works out well. it is always been our relationship with private industry that has been the channel through which we got the best technology. that has to be different in today s world and that is what i m trying to adjust to in the world where i began where bill was. in those days the technology of consequence was mostly american. must much of it was government-sponsored. those are still major players but those two things are not to be taken for granted so we have a new relationship with dynamic innovative culture of the united states from the one i had when i started my career. there is a change in the technical substance we are trying to achieve. that is when you see me coming out all the

republicans always love. costs no money, it makes money. it gives tools to the irs to go after the traffickers and to put them in jail and to fine them and take those fines and put them into building beds for those young people who have been victimmed, victimized and abused. we don t want to believe that it even happens in our own country, that it s trafficked into our country, and the numbers are staggering, about those trafficked into our country but it happens domestically too. often times foster care children are trafficked. they are trafficked, and when they come to you and tell you their stories you don t want to believe them that no one helped them. their teachers, guidance counselors when they showed them them their bruises and they were advertised in books to be a child prostitute. so the crime is out there. we need to really work hard together to stop it. i became involved in 2000 when there was a constituent of mine in queens called big apple tours. norman babarash
