and lastly i want to talk about kennedy and eisenhower, the two main stars of the book. i will tell you a bit about them and the different challenges they had in the transition period. the transition was a drama that unfolded in four or five main acts. i will quickly go through that and we will be happy to take any questions or comments you might have. my wife mandy and i were talking this morning and a couple months ago i spoke about this book in washington, d.c. at an event hosted by the u.s. senate library. it was a nice event of the capital visitors center, a good audience, good questions. towards the end, a young gentlemen raised his hand and he said he worked at the u.s. senate gift shop. he said he would like to promote the book. he said could you just sort of boil it down to kind of a quick summary, an elevator version. for a book offer, that is a hanging curveball. i said absolutely and started talking, and talking, and talking. i look over and i see him squirming in

when briefings happen, it can feel like a war room. my colleagues refer to it as beat the press. you said something from the podium. was it accurate or not? i m not going to engage on matters that deal with the outside counsel. they believe there are a lot of gotcha questions, it s unnecessarily hostile. not skeptical but hostile. frustration is apparent on both sides. if you spent a little more time reporting the news instead of trying to tear me down, you might actually see that we re working hard trying to provide you good information. the president of the united states should not refer to us as the enemy of the people. when you report fake news, which cnn does, you are the enemy of the people. tonight, a behind the scenes look at a historic room. i m not taking any more questions. built by another president who hated the press. president nixon gets into office and said, we re going to move the sons of bitches. battle in the briefing room: th
