EL CAJON (KUSI) – A skateboard-riding assailant slashed another man with a three-foot sword during an argument in a neighborhood north of El Cajon Friday, leaving the victim with apparently minor injuries. The assault in the 200 block of East Bradley Avenue in the unincorporated Bostonia community was reported shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials. The sword-wielding man cut the 24-year-old victim’s hand and hit him on the head with his skateboard before fleeing, Lt. Jim Emig said. Medics took the injured man whose name was withheld to a hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, the lieutenant said. ....
UNINCORPORATED ESCONDIDO A chase that started just outside Escondido was called off after it reached freeways speeds of 95 mph, but the fleeing car was soon located after it crashed into a parked vehicle Thursday night, a sheriff’s lieutenant said. A deputy tried to pull over the car, which was missing a front license plate, at Skyridge Lane and Viewridge Place just before 8:25 p.m., Lt. Jim Emig said. The car instead sped off, and the deputy gave chase. The chase ended up on Interstate 15, and reached speeds high enough that it was called off for safety reasons, Emig said. About 10 minutes after the chase started, deputies found the car, which had crashed near the terminus of Valley View Place at Jack Rabbit Acres which is just blocks from where the chase began. ....
An 18-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning after leading deputies on a half-hour chase that began in Lemon Grove and ended in Balboa Park, authorities said. Shortly before 2:50 a.m., dispatchers received a report that a man had stolen a dirt bike from a trailer on Loma Drive, off Lemon Grove Avenue, county sheriff’s Lt. Jim Emig said. Responding deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and attempted to stop the Dodge Durango SUV, but the driver took off north on Lemon Grove Avenue, he said. The driver went west on state Route 94, then switched to northbound Interstate 805 before exiting at University Avenue, Emig said. ....
