Staff photo by Daniel Clifton Dr. Rachel Jones sees a certain irony in getting her COVID-19 vaccination on March 13, her birthday. “Last year on my birthday, it was the last day we had in-person class for the school year because of COVID,” said Jones, assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction at Burnet Consolidated Independent School District. “This year on my birthday, I’m getting my vaccine. It’s a happy day.”

Subscribe Now Getting Burnet and Marble Falls school staff vaccinated against the virus that causes COVID-19 is a team effort. The city of Burnet, Burnet County, and Ascension Seton Highland Lakes organized a vaccination clinic Saturday, March 13, for teachers and other school employees.  Burnet Fire Chief Mark Ingram told the Burnet City Council during a March 9 meeting he believes the clinic can vaccinate all Burnet Consolidated Independent School District personnel as well as a number of Marble Falls ISD staff. However, he did not think there was enough vaccine on hand to fully cover both districts, but future doses could take care of remaining staff.

Staff photo by Daniel Clifton Members of Valley Lodge No. 175 in Burnet hope the public can help them locate some missing Masons. Actually, they’re looking for photos of 14 past Masters to complete a wall of pictures.  “We’ve been working on this project for about a year now, and we have photos for almost all our past Masters, but we’re missing some,” said lodge member Jim Barho. “We’ve just about done everything we can to find photos, so now we’re asking the public if they can help us.”
