Jill Cornick started working at the Clarks located in Blandford, Dorset, in 1956 when she was 14 years old and continued to work there for 68 years, even postponing her honeymoon in 1969 to attend a training course.
Prior to receiving the unexpected news last Thursday that the store would be shut on Monday, the woman had just shortened her workweek to three days, but she had no intention of retiring.
