North Wales health board’s key mental health strategy needs ‘drastic review’
A health board member said a keynote mental health strategy needs “drastic review” after it received “limited assurance” from a governance appraisal.
The comment was made by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s vice-chair Lucy Reid at it’s monthly meeting on Thursday.
She said the Together 4 Mental Health (T4MH) strategy which was in place needed “drastic review”.
It came after the health board’s audit committee asked whether the implementation of the strategy, devised in 2017, was “fit for purpose for the people of North Wales”.
Ms Reid said the process to revamp the programme had “already started”. ....

75 deaths associated with five major coronavirus hospital outbreaks in North Wales in the last year
A health board infection prevention and control report has revealed 75 people died because of five major coronavirus outbreaks in North Wales hospitals during the past year.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s annual infection prevention and control report was discussed at Thursday’s health board meeting.
It revealed how hospital acquired infections had reduced significantly over the past year from April 2020-March 2021, apart from C difficile and Covid-19.
It revealed five Covid outbreaks within hospitals had been classified as level three, meaning: ....

Draft North Wales ‘dark skies’ policy going out for public consultation
The public are being asked to check whether planning guidance designed to reduce light pollution in an area of outstanding natural beauty needs any alterations.
The supplementary information for developments affecting the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) was discussed at Denbighshire council’s recent planning meeting.
Essentially it sets out the policy for developments within the AONB which seek to guarantee everyone from astronomers to the casual observer can actually see the night sky in all its glory.
The guidance, which will go out for public consultation this month, is looking to stop poorly designed external lighting which inhibits the views of the night sky – which will be a material planning consideration in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB. ....
