MANCHESTER — It’s the Bar Mitzvah celebration for this year’s New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival – which will screen independent and foreign films from eight countries from May 19 through June 10. The international lineup includes selections from the United States, Israel, Ethiopia, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland and Switzerland. Eleven feature films will be making their New Hampshire premieres!
The NHJFF is following an all-virtual format for the second time due to the pandemic. Festival attendees will have a 72-hour window to watch each film.
The New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival strives to enhance an appreciation of extraordinary individuals, culture, identity, history and contemporary issues in Jewish and Israeli life. Using the power of film and programming to educate and entertain, the NHJFF encourages dialogue on diverse perspectives, broadening understanding and strengthening community. ....

Republican Legislators in New Hampshire Under Fire Over Antisemitic Social Media Postings


One of Brazil s most notorious politicians was the subject of a criminal complaint filed on Monday by the country s Jewish.
The mural by Los Angeles-based artist Mear One, also known as Kalen Ockerman showed a group of Jewish bankers playing the board game Monopoly, with their tabletop resting on the bowed naked backs of several workers.
Spillane added the caption: “Truth. Agree.”
The offending mural was one of several scandals around antisemitism to rock the opposition British Labour Party under its former far left leader, Jeremy Corbyn. When the mural was removed from a wall in the East End of London in 2012, Corbyn voiced his backing for the Ockerman’s work in a post on his Facebook page. Corbyn subsequently admitted that he “did not look more closely at the image I was commenting on, the contents of which are deeply disturbing and antisemitic.” ....

New Hampshire has a growing problem with anti-Semitism, one that experts fear could turn violent if not checked.
“Yes, we think that New Hampshire has an anti-Semitism problem,” said Dina Michael Chaitowitz, a member of the Jewish Federation of New Hampshire’s board.
FBI reports indicate that hate crimes directed at Jewish people are on the rise in New Hampshire, and the state is home to some notorious anti-Semitic individuals and groups. Chaitowitz said her organization is hearing more and more about anti-Semitism in schools.
“In addition to swastikas being painted in public settings and on school lockers and desks, and Neo-Nazi groups that spew hatred with apparent impunity, we have heard from a significant number of students in many different school districts of anti-Semitic behaviors. The rise in anti-Semitism in this state mirrors the national and global rise in anti-Semi ....
